An FIA lawyer in Karachi represents people in Federal Investigation Agency inquiries and cases, including immigration offences, human smuggling, banking fraud, money laundering and corruption by federal officials. The lawyer handles notices, pre-arrest and post-arrest bail, quashment petitions and trial. Cyber crime cases now go to NCCIA.
FIA Inquiries and Notices
An FIA inquiry often begins with a notice asking you to appear or to produce documents. How you respond at that stage can shape the entire case. Advocate Muzamil Hassan and his team review the notice, advise on whether and how to appear, and prepare your documents so that you do not make avoidable admissions.
Bail in FIA Cases
Where there is a risk of arrest, we prepare pre-arrest bail applications under Section 498 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. After arrest, we apply for bail under Section 497 before the competent court and, if needed, before the High Court of Sindh.
FIA Trial Defence
FIA cases often turn on documents, such as bank records, travel history and official files. We test how that evidence was obtained and whether it actually proves each element of the charge, and we represent you through to judgment and any appeal.

Stopped at Karachi Airport or Offloaded by FIA Immigration?
FIA Immigration checks passengers at Pakistan’s airports. If you were offloaded, or you are told your name is on a travel control list, find out exactly which list and which authority is involved. The Exit Control List operates under the Exit from Pakistan (Control) Ordinance, 1981, and other lists have their own process. We can apply for removal and, where needed, challenge the restriction before the High Court of Sindh.
Where FIA Cases Are Heard
Depending on the offence, FIA cases in Karachi can come before the Court of the Special Judge (Central), a banking offences court or another designated court. Bail refused by the trial court can be sought from the High Court of Sindh. Choosing the correct forum early saves time when liberty is at stake.

What to Do If the FIA Contacts You
- Keep the notice. Check the inquiry or FIR number, the sections, the date and the officer named.
- Speak to a lawyer first. Get advice before you attend, give a statement or sign anything.
- Consider bail. Where there is a risk of arrest, a pre-arrest bail application may be made under Section 498 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
- Prepare your documents. Collect your bank, travel or business records in an organised way.
- Challenge unlawful action. A petition can be filed in the High Court of Sindh under Article 199 of the Constitution or Section 561-A of the Code where the action is legally defective.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the FIA arrest me without an FIR?
FIA officers have powers of arrest in the offences within their schedule, but those powers must be used according to law. If you have received a notice or fear arrest, speak to a lawyer immediately about pre-arrest bail and whether the action can be challenged.
Do I have to appear after receiving an FIA notice?
A lawful notice should not be ignored, as ignoring it can make your position worse. Have a lawyer check it first, then decide how to respond and whether to attend with counsel. A notice that is vague or without jurisdiction can be challenged.
What is the difference between the FIA and NCCIA?
The FIA investigates federal crimes such as immigration offences, money laundering and corruption. NCCIA now handles cyber crime under PECA. A case that involves both can have separate proceedings.
How do I get my name removed from the Exit Control List?
You can apply to the Ministry of Interior for review and, if necessary, file a constitutional petition in the High Court of Sindh. The right steps depend on which authority asked for your name to be placed on the list and why.
Can overseas Pakistanis get legal help in an FIA matter?
Yes. We can take initial instructions remotely and advise on notices, travel restrictions and bail before you travel. Some applications, including bail in many cases, can require your personal appearance in court.
